He has said he will fight the suspension. He has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2015\/05\/27\/sports\/soccer\/sepp-blatter-fifa-timeline.html?_r=0#\/#time376_11335\">under suspicion <\/a>of ethical violations for many of the 17 years he has been FIFA president. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">After the suspension was announced, Mr. Blatter called a press conference to make a statement beginning with the words, \u201cI\u2019m sorry\u2026\u201d but it was not an apology:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/on.aol.com\/video\/sepp-blatter-sorry-but-no-apology-519354218\">\u201cI&#8217;m really sorry.<\/a> I\u2019m sorry that I am still a punching ball for FIFA, &#8230;\u00a0 and I\u2019m sorry for football \u2026 I\u2019m sorry for FIFA, which I\u2019ve served for over forty years. I&#8217;m sorry for the 400-plus team members. But I\u2019m also sorry about me, how I\u2019ve been tainted in this world of humanitarian qualities.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">It might have been more accurate had he substituted the word \u201csad\u201d \u2013 or even \u201cmad\u201d &#8212; for \u201csorry.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-family: Calibri;\">By starting off with the words, &#8220;I&#8217;m sorry,&#8221; his audience might have been lead to believe that he was going to apologize.\u00a0But an apology includes remorse and responsibility for one\u2019s actions, and Mr. Blatter apparently feels neither.
